Since it has been brought to my attention (well not really but sort of) that people might be at a loss as to which airfield they ought to be using or if there is any rhyme or reason whatsoever to the concept of using an airfield in one's postings, I just decided to do some writeups on some of the different airfields you might find here in Steampulp!
White Waltham AirfieldDescription: Privately owned by the de Havilland family, this airfield is home to the de Havilland flying school and is the unofficial headquarters of civilian aviation in London and in fact England. It is the largest grass airfield in use in Europe.
Use this airfield if: you are a civilian, you are unveiling some kind of new (civilian) technology, you are planning a high-profile and media-friendly event.
*Bicester AerodromeDescription: Until very recently, this was the most heavily used airfield of the Royal Flying Corps, of the Royal Navy. It is currently undergoing massive renovations and only two runways are open at this time. While the airfield is occasionally open to the public and the press, it remains largely military.
Use this airfield if: you are an officer or enlisted of the Royal Navy, you are attending a military airshow, you are a member of the press running a story on a public day.
Crown AirfieldDescription: This airfield is not open to the public. Chances are, if you're meant to be here, you'll know it.
Use this airfield if: you have reason to. If you aren't sure if you have reason to, you probably don't.

I hope this list gives people a starting point for this! Of course, we encourage freedom of ideas in this game and so if you have any ideas of your own, please feel free to use them! Just if you're going to use a very famous airfield, please make sure you do a quick bit of research first. I'm not asking you to go to the Library and take out a book on British aviation, a simple wikipedia search is great! for example, let's say i wanted to use Heathrow Airport (to pick a glaringly famous example). Well, when i search that on wikipedia, right under history the very first paragraph tells me that prior to 1930 this airfield was called Great Western Aerodrome and that it was under private ownership of Fairey Aviation. It also tells me that for commercial traffic, Croyden Airport was London's main airport at the time. So if you need an airfield for commercial purposes, and that's why you were looking to Heathrow, you might want to use Croyden. This information literally took me all of four minutes to gather. And while we all know that wikipedia isn't exactly a good source for information for your doctoral thesis, it isn't too bad for a loosely historical online roleplaying game.
I hope that someone finds this little mini-article helpful.
