  • shoepixie: Mostly just...more simple. Fewer boards. That's all. :) I do think a new suggestions topic is needed, though, in light of things I've been hearing recently.

  • medusa: Altering it to what?  Maybe this constitutes a topic?  It seems somehow wrong to discuss the future of the board in the shoutbox, lol!

  • shoepixie: Hey, kids! I'm thinking about rather drastically simplifying the board structure. Thoughts?

Welcome to Clockwork Lullabye!!!

Clockabye has been around, in one form or another, for almost four years. It has amassed an incredible amount of really fantastic writers and creative minds, and given birth to a very close-knit community of writers, artists and roleplayers. We anticipate and look forward to drawing even more friends into the bunch.

Clockwork Lullabye started as a Collaborative Fiction board focusing on quality, community, and strong storytelling. It's inspired art, flash fiction, short stories, and (coming soon) a comic. In the days ahead, Clockabye will be opening up to host all the creativity that it might inspire. Due to this, we're on a temporary hold as far as new staff-generated plots. Please see the Rules and Resources area to find out how to join in.

What to do with your newly Ratified character
« on: January 05, 2008, 04:50:46 PM »
(Again, this is essentially ripped off from the rules at t'vic.  Sensing a theme, here? ;) )

So you’ve passed the gruelling character application process, done your history homework and responded to the staff's suggestions. And finally, you’ve gotten that lovely ratification banner at the bottom of your sheet. Your character has been moved from New Characters to the main Census, and you’re eager to begin living out this gruesome and Grimm tale we’ve made in this age-of-unenlightenment London.

Now what?

First of all, make sure you’ve looked at the wiki.  It’s a trove of information, and more is added all the time. Read whatever pages seem appropriate, and brush up on things that are going to affect your playing. Then spend some time here in the OOC section. There isn't much here just yet, but that will soon be changing. For goodness sake, read the bleeding rules.

Then, double-check your character for readiness:
- Does your signature line link to your character sheet? This is required.
- Do you have an appropriate and period avatar (the period, for our purposes, is huge.  Anything that looks remotely like it belongs in the seventeenth or early eighteenth century will work fine.  Nothing too anachronistic, please.)? If not, this game is full of artists, art geeks, and designers who will help you if you ask.
- Is your signature line appropriate? (Not too long, fitting for your character.)
- If your character is an Agent, is their Agency file done and posted?
- If your character is an Exceptional or has a double life, is their “Secret” sheet done, posted and approved?

If all this is done, you’re ready! (and yes, if you’re working toward these things, we’re willing to let you fudge a little bit. We're not completly without a heart. Well. Maybe one of us, but that was an accident!)

First, you must make your introductory post. This is basically a sum-up of your character, your roleplaying style, and the first impression we get of your character. It can take place anywhere in London, and it must be a solo post.
A little about your Intro post. It could be a set of actions they perform each and every day, a particularly defining event or decision, or simply insight into their ruminations, an internal landscape. Or it could be walking out their door in the morning; their reaction to their life and the city around them. This post, more than any other, is completely at the player's discretion.
Please make a note in the topic subtitle that it is an intro post, so that staff will know to close it right away. Make sure it's up to snuff (lists the date, time, and location, is in story form, well edited..etc.) And of course, send a link to it in a pm to the monarch (or in a comment in the intro posts topic) so that it can be added to the introductions list. It’s your chance to come in with a shine, so take your time and give us your shineyest!

Afterwards, please make a link to the intro post on your character sheet, right under your “First Impression.”. After that’s done…well….

Then you’re ready to find people and play out scenes with them. To let your character live, for as long as they can manage it. Please be aware that other players may feel just as shy as you, especially at first. Don't be afraid to let people know you want to scene with them. If you see a character that you think is really neat and figure yours might interact with well in an interesting fashion, send them a message and suggest it! Many people won't know you want to play with them unless *you* make the first move. In time, you'll be able to mire your character in a web of relationships, and each scene will lead to another, and another, until....well. We'll leave *that* be, for now.

Welcome in, kid! Have a grand old time. Be in by ten. Watch your back.

And don’t say we didn’t warn you.

I am a Natural Philosopher, and my Rules are the God-given Rules of the Universe, not the arbitrary ones of your insipid sport!

Titiritera de: Roy G. Biv, Sam, Jane Campbell; Dickie Welles, Lucky Welles, Avialle Welles.
Want a scene?  Just ask. :)
