ESPIONAGE!!! ALSO, SPIES!Please forgive my love of redundant titles. Alright. I will summarize this business for the complete layperson who doesn't know what's going on. Thematically, we are looking at a cold-war kind of world and there is a lot of espionage happening. What specifically are we working on right now? Glad you asked that...
You can find the beginning of the story in
Smoke and Coin, where a mission is given out. In
Living Up To Promises, an unlikely spy unearths a mysterious file. In
this scene he delivers the prize to his employer. WHAT COULD THE NAVY BE UP TO THAT CROWN KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT? Lissy and Noah don't know either, but have a pretty good idea who does.
Noah gives Lissy a TOP SEKRIT mission (actually, probably an even higher security clearance than that, but who's counting?) to bring in
the guy who reads the Kaiser's mail like the morning funnies for a little questioning.
Meanwhile, Mr. Welles has been doing some
"questioning" of
"his" own. He has somehow managed to draft an airship pilot suspected of espionage into service and things are looking up as far as that partnership is concerned.
Alas, this new alliance was apparently star-crossed. Mr. Welles does not show for their morning meeting,
having another rather pressing engagement to which he must attend. When Miss Hepatica reports at her showtime and
Mr. Welles is nowhere to be found, she is given the somewhat unenviable task of
searching him out.But Miss Hepatica is not the
only person with a vested interest in Mr. Welles' whereabouts. His sweetheart, one Miss Eulalie Marsters,
calls her resources to her in an attempt to get more information vis a vis the whereabouts of her missing beau. Whether anything worthwhile will come as a result of this meeting remains to be seen.
