Here is a link to some modern english slang:
http://www.peevish.co.uk/slang/index.htmThere's a few slangy words that get tossed around like you're supposed to know what they mean, and to anyone who's relatively familiar with the goings-on of the world it's not too difficult to put two and two together. Still, if you're have a hard time with any of it, here's a quick guide to the world-specific slang words used.
Dogcatcher: Thief-taker, usually a derogatory term, but sometimes employed by those in the biz as a nickname for themselves.
Ap: a verb, as in "I'll ap you later" or a noun, as in "I'm reading my aps." From the abbreviation AP for Aether Post. It is basically like texting someone on a cell phone. It's sort of a combination of instant messaging and email, and is the number one means of communication through Voda.
Is-Cam: This should probably be obvious, but it's an abbreviated form of the combined neighborhoods of Islington-Camden.
The Bubble: The City-Gov Arcology, usually a derogatory term. Because the Arcology is encased entirely in glass, people refer to it as a "Bubble", although its shape is not domed, as the name might suggest.
Govver: Usually a derogatory name for someone employed by CityGov or their family members; but its meaning can be stretched to take in any wealthy or overly well-dressed person.
roger: a verb, as in, "He definitely rogered her." To engage in sexual intercourse, usually signifying the "giving" end. It can also be used more abstractly, i.e. "Now we're really rogered."
Pants: usually used as an exclamation, i.e., "Oh pants!" meaning "oh no" or some derivative thereof. Also, "it's pants," meaning that something is screwed up, stupid, etc.
If anyone else has any others, please feel free to post them!
